~ Ahhhhh.....Welcome To The First Day Of Fall ~

As Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter, usually in March (Southern Hemisphere) or September (Northern Hemisphere) when the arrival of night becomes noticeably earlier.

The equinoxes might be expected to be in the middle of their respective seasons, but temperature lag (caused by the thermal latency of the ground and sea) means that seasons appear later than dates calculated from a purely astronomical perspective. The actual lag varies with region, so some cultures regard the autumnal equinox as "mid-autumn" whilst others with a longer lag treat it as the start of autumn. Meteorologists use a definition based on months, with autumn being September, October and November in the northern hemisphere and March, April and May in the southern hemisphere.

In North America, autumn is usually considered to start with the September equinox.  In traditional East Asian solar term, Autumn starts on or around 8 August and ends on about 7 November. In Ireland, the autumn months according to the national meteorological service, Met Éireann, are September, October and November. However, according to the Irish Calendar which is based on ancient Celtic traditions, autumn lasts throughout the months of August, September, and October, or possibly a few days later, depending on tradition. In Australia, autumn officially begins on 1 March and ends 31 May. The vast diversity of the ecological zones of the South American, African and Australian continents renders the rigid European, North Asian and North American seasonal calendar an imposed cultural concept rather than relevant to climactic conditions. The seasonal cycles as named and described by the various indigenous Aboriginal peoples of Australia differ substantially from one another according to their local geographical and ecological environment and are intricately dependent on local environmental events and resources

An Equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long. It may be better understood to mean that latitudes +L and -L north and south of the Equator experience nights of equal length.

Although the word equinox is often understood to mean "equal [day and] night," this is not strictly true. For most locations on earth, there are two distinct identifiable days per year when the length of day and night are closest to being equal; those days are referred to as the "equiluxes" to distinguish them from the equinoxes. Equinoxes are points in time, but equiluxes are days. By convention, equiluxes are the days where sunrise and sunset are closest to being exactly 12 hours apart.

With all that being said...There's a lot to fall that I simply enjoy, warm apple cider, going to an apple orchard, taking a hay ride, enjoying just made caramel apples and the joy of children playing with all the leave that have fallen on the ground.  So my Fellow friends...  Welcome to Fall!!

Etruscan Inspired Bracelet In Silver by rainwaterstudios on Etsy

Etruscan Inspired Bracelet In Silver by rainwaterstudios on Etsy:
The origins of the Etruscans are lost in prehistory. The main hypotheses are that they are indigenous, probably stemming from the Villanovan culture, or that they are the result of invasion from the north or the Near East. Etruscan expansion was focused both to the north beyond the Apennines and into Campania. Some small towns in the 6th century BC disappeared during this time, ostensibly consumed by greater, more powerful neighbors. However, it is certain that the political structure of the Etruscan culture was similar to, albeit more aristocratic than, Magna Graecia in the south. The mining and commerce of metal, especially copper and iron, led to an enrichment of the Etruscans and to the expansion of their influence in the Italian peninsula and the western Mediterranean sea. Here their interests collided with those of the Greeks, especially in the sixth century BC, when Phoceans of Italy founded colonies along the coast of France, Spain and Corsica. This led the Etruscans to ally themselves with the Carthaginians, whose interests also collided with the Greeks.

These ancient people are my inspiration for this gorgeous bracelet in silver and copper.

~ A Moment Of Reflection ~

As fall is fast approaching and the first freeze is upon us.  My flower faeries decided to give my gorgeous roses one last hurrah of the season. This is now my time to reflect on some of the great memories that I have had with my family over the summer.  We took two great vacations, I expanded my business to the not only to include a shop here in town but more business on several internet sites and I have gained several new friendships.  All of which I cherish and adore.  I am also in the works of getting some of my first romance novels published, which will expand my horizons even more.  I feel that words cannot express my love, desire, passion  and hope for my family, friends and all the new endeavors that will fall on my doorstep.
So as you read my moment of reflection, I say to you, have you taken the time to reflect on what you have done over the summer or in you life in the past few months?  If not, isn't a good time to do so? A little soul searching never hurt anyone and the faeries absolutly love it when a mortal embraces their inner light.

Happy soul searching...

Melissa

~ Garfied Park Arts N Crafts Fair ~

Well, the fair is over and I am a little sad.  All the build up of getting ready, pulling your hair out, being a total wreck and a little cranky to your family and now it is over.  Nevertheless, I was overjoyed and inspired by all the great artist and wonderful people that I encountered at the fair.  I was able to promote my business to the next level, meet some very talented artists and make some new friends.    Overall I was very pleased with how organized the fair was and give KUDOS!! to Kathy at Garfied Park Neighborhood Association and all her staff that helped out with this terrific fair.  I look forward to attending again next year.

Celtic Knot Pendant In Copper With Iridescent by rainwaterstudios

Celtic Knot Pendant In Copper With Iridescent by rainwaterstudios

Celtic Knot Pendant In Copper With Iridescent Beads and Olivine Freshwater Pearls Description:

The interlacing lines of the Celtic Knot stands for 'no beginning, no ending, the continuity of everlasting love and binding together or intertwining of two soul or spirits.' Christianity has embraced much of the ancient Celtic symbolism and had adapted many Celtic Knots into high crosses and illuminated manuscripts. Celtic knots date back to the 5th century and were used extensively by ancient monks in illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells and Book of Durrows. The Celts did not record the meanings behind the designs they recreated but scholarly speculation is that the symbols represented basic tenants of life, mankind and spirituality. The continual looping of the designs suggests themes of eternity and interconnectedness. Interwoven figures of people and animals may have represented the interdependent nature of life. Two of more knots laced together symbolized lovers, God and man, and so on. Some ancient Celtic symbols have changed in meaning over time, having been influenced by the introduction of Christianity and the influence of other cultures. Circle knot represent eternity or the eternal cycle of life, death and rebirth.
